Converted stable block, St Boswells – an emphasis on shrub planting and a practical solution to a patio

This small, L shaped garden was uninspiring and originally divided by an ugly fence.

The owners were keen to keep an expanse of grass but the patio space and path to the back door sloped badly and were poorly constructed.

A new paving was chosen, sympathetic to the colours of the stone building, and the levels were incorported into the final design with small cobble steps and a sloping lawn.

A new circular patio was created near the back door and the lawn shaped to flow around the side of the houseĀ - a new gravel path leads temptingly around the corner of the house to the longer lawn at the side.
